Guest
No idea. Maybe try the classified section on this board for a used copy. Otherwise, direct mail order from UK, I suppose.
bibblies
I think posting in the classifieds would be your best chance of finding a cheap copy. BangkokPhil's recommended it on his site, so he might even have a copy to hike. I bought mine direct in the UK 7 years ago for a hefty 200 pounds or so. (That's a lot, considering there were only 4 cassette tapes and 3 books in the box.) It's pretty good - it taught me to read and write basic Thai fairly well, but it doesn't teach a great deal of vocabulary and I personally couldn't learn clear pronunciation from it. For that, I really needed some feedback. If you're in Thailand for any decent length of time, it's worth considering a one-to-one course as an alternative. For the equivalent of 200 smackers you might get a better deal. The most (self) satisfaction I got from it was being able to reply to bewildered Thais that no, I hadn't gone to Thai school - I'd learnt Thai on my own. Smug days, those. Check out www.linguaphone.com. It turns out that they do have offices everywhere, even in Thailand.
markle
The local linguaphone office only sell the English course. One thing about the Linguaphone course is that it's the most ripped off Thai language course around. Almost all of the Thai language schools in Bkk use it.
