SUZIBANDIT
A friend is looking into opening a guest house in LOS. Not to debate the merits of whether this will be successfull or not, does anyone have any experience in this area, i.e. regarding foreign ownership of such establishment and the legal issues. My friend will be consulting a Thai attorney of course, but I was just wondering if anyone here had any insight into this issue or any firsthand experience I could pass on. Cheers. SiLeakHunt
There's an English guy called Andy Gill who knows quite a lot about guest houses. He might even have one for sale. Cheers up the Latics

legover
think about using an international law firm with local RE experience. say Baker & McKenzie or a referral from them. they're quite helpful. might cost a bit more & might save his wad... your friend needs somebody on his side. Guest
might have your friend checkout www.cat-real-estate.com - i saw that they had a 12-room apartment/guest house place (6 rooms a/c 6 without) and a bottom floor bar/restaurant setup. The price seemed reasonable at around 6 mil baht. Recooping the price may be out of question but being able to live there and operating both a restaurant and g/h might provide enough to sustain one in Chiang Mai (where all this is). -OKTOBER
