Guest
Just finished watching a '61 surf travelogue, ah those old graceful 9'6" boards..so much more graceful than the new sports kar style. I've body surfed a pretty good wave at Liam Sing, Phuket.. a good day ( 3+' ) is simular to the east coast of Oahu, more like Mokapu than Sandy Beach. The steep coast generates a steep / fast swell. Nice. Best beach on Phuket by my standards! There has to be decient swells from the Indian Ocean / Adaman Sea. Would need be north of the Northern Indoneasian barriers. Any body done a surf trip on the Malay Peninsula? Is there a '101' style coastal road? I think I'm getting my next Thai road trip lined out as I type. Is there mountainous Thai coast north of Phuket Island? Met a couple of Aussie kids with their boards last trip, they said there was surf near Karon?.. there is that 'hill' between Patong Si & Karon, might be a decient swell there.. but from Karon south it's not likely the flat coast / bottom would generate a fun swell.
