spirit_of_town_hall
There's a very good book called Phar Farang available from Asia Books. Charts the life of a city exec who sells up gives everything away and moves to Thailand to become a monk. Very interesting insight in to Buddism and you grow to like the character as he matures and at times seriously thinks about packing it in STH
thai3
The original in this line was by richard randall called my life as a siamese monk. I think it was in 1954 when he left his photgraphy job in the UK to live in Wat Paknam. He describes leaving Don Muang airport along dirt roads and passing through villages on the way to bangkok. A very interesting read when it comes to the meditation experiencess. Wat Paknam is the home of Dhamakaya, something of a sect I would say, which seems to have a bad reputation with some thai's as they regard it as being too interested in money.-peter
