Guest Posted September 23, 2002 Report Share Posted September 23, 2002 "khue" basically translates to 'is' so yes your average rice farmer would understand "nee khue arai" as meaning 'what is this'. however they would probably just shorten it to "nee arai" as they tend to with most words. Though they may feel strange hearing it (even educated ones) as the Thais don't say it the correct way. Nii Arai is more of the colloquail.
