A game of two halves

Football supporters, or at least English ones, are right up there with lawyers, stockbrokers and used car salesmen, when it comes to the love showered upon them by the rest of society.

That being said there is always another side to the story.

Yesterday the fans of Birmingham City showed that they have some class by forming themselves into a flag of Senegal by holding up coloured cards to show respect to Aliou(sp?) Cisse their new Senegalese midfielder who has just returned to England after having been back in Senegal dealing with the aftermath of losing 9 or 11(I have seen both numbers quoted) members of his family in the recent ferry boat disaster out there.

That and the likes of the way in which the minutes of silence accorded the two young murdered girls in England and earlier in memory of the anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy illustrate that as usual it is a minority who gives each group its reputation
