Bringing notebook

Just a check:

Plan to bring my notebook during my next trip. Going to Phuket and Bangkok, and Koh Samet. When in BKK I will be with friends so should be ok.

Is it advisable in Phuket? If any of you have bring notebook/mobile phones, what are best practise to safeguard them?

Cheers!!

Every time i brought my notebook I had a cablelock, which can be attached to any standard notebook, which allows you to lock it it to a heavy piece of furniture or s.th. similar, so nobody could take it away in your absence or while you sleep. Not a 100% guaranty but worked fine for me several times several months each all over the country, from more expensive hotels down to right dumps for about 80 THB a day.

That lock sounds like a good idea. When I was in Phuket, my thinkpad was too large to fit in the hotel safe where I stayed! I like bringing my notebook around the country. It's nice for offloading flash cards. Also handy for showing people pics of back home.
