I would love some advice, ie, should i get a visa in australia, or is it easy enough to get it in say thailand or when i get to cambodia. Which is the best way to get there ie organise it from home, or organise it when i hit thailand. And the most important things, where to stay, and where is the decent nightlife or day life, (u guys know what i mean) ooh and what does it cost for the fun thanks for the advice

Prosal
One friend just come back from two weeks in Phnom Penh and had a great time. He stayed in a new upmarket place right on Sisowath Quay, the Himawari Serviced Apartments, and paid 85U$ for a suite with balcony and Royal Palace views. Very nice. ::
kamui
Depending on you budget you can have hotel directly at the riverside for 20-30 US$. In PP I stayed in a very nice hotel at the river: River Star Hotel I had a room on the upper floor with a panoramic view on the river and a private balcony. Very friendly staff, good food. 5 PC's with free, unlimited internet access. 25 US$ (rooms without view on the river are cheaper) http://www.phnompenhonline.com/Websites/RiverStarHotel.htm A good website to find more information: http://www.canbypublications.com/phnompenh/pphotels.htm
kamui
PS: near the nightlife is the new Flamingos hotel. http://www.flamingos.com.kh/ But since PP is so small and motodups are cheap, I preferred to stay at the river (my travel guide says that the river front is one of the most beautiful in Asia...) limbo
Allatsea, Your request is probably better off in Regional Sanuk, where currently two Cambodia threads are running. BTW, it's probably best to get your visa in BKK.
kamui
Concerning the visa, you can obtain it easily at the border or airport. There is no need to organize it in advance. For more details read talesofasia.com. This already mentioned website is the best on Cambo except for P4P. If you still prefer to obtain the visa in advance you can do it at the Cambodian embassy in BKK, but it will take two trips to the embassy and IMHO there are better ways to spend the time BKK. As far as I know most P4P places in PP are mentioned in the other P4P in Cambodia thread. There existed a punters board on cambo, but it got hacked and is down since months. kamui
allatsea2000 said:Just one more thing, what is the best way to get to cambodia? If you go to PP flying is the only option, otherwise you will spend two days on the road. If you go to Siem Reap and don't want to spend the money for the plane, you can take the bus from BKK to Aranyaprathet (Thai border town), take the Tuktuk to Poipet, where the border actually is (Poipet is probably THE shithole of SE-Asia) and than take a cab to SR. I did this two times and I liked the trip. It's a kind of one-day-adventure. If you do this, be sure to read the updates at http://www.talesofasia.com/cambodia-overland-bkksr.htm NEVER take the organized buses from Kao Shan road, this are complete rip offs. It looks cheaper than a self organized tour, but they have forced stops at restaurants, try to scam you with the visa at the boarder, they take almost 5 hours longer and have contracts with certain guest houses which try every means that you stay at their house....
