Guest
Does anybody have any idea what will be open during Khao Phansa? Any suggestions for nightlife? Mahalo and Aloha
khunsanuk
Hi, According to my wife the karaoke bars will be closed (as they were last year), so I would not be surprised to see the same thing happen in the farang areas. I'll try to confirm with some of the barowners. Sanuk!

Guest
The holiday is on the full moon of the 8th lunar month. I understand it is set for July 5 & 6. It celebrates the Buddhas first sermon. I posted a similar thread looking for cultural activities also. Last year I came in on this day and missed both the nightlife and cultural activites while sleeping off the long plane ride. Thanks guys for any information. Being that one of the days is on a Friday, will the weekly Woodstock meeting be canceled or rescheduled or taken to another location if Woodstock is closed? khunsanuk
Hi, Not sure yet if Woodstock will be open, I'll ask tomorrow. Either way I won't be there, heading upcountry with the missus. Sanuk!

Guest
My Thai calendar shows Thursday and Friday marked in red. But - my Thai office is closed Friday only, and the office manager told me the holiday is actually Friday and Saturday. I'm not sure if this is official, but here's at least one data point to that effect. Cheers! Bangkok Butterfly
khunsanuk
Hi, The way I understand it is that the Thursday is only a government (and possibly bank) holiday. The Friday is a national holiday. Sanuk!
khunsanuk
Hi, Spoke to the manager yesterday, and according to him they will most likely be open (he will confirm on Monday). They will 'not' be selling alcohol though. Sanuk!
Guest
Referring to your post above, two questions: 1. When you say "manager", I assume you mean Woodstock. Did you get a chance to check on the other bars? 2. Both Thursday and Friday are holidays of sorts. Will the bars be open on Thursday?
