Not sure if it fits the bill here, but Pasolini's " Salo o le 120 giornate di sodoma comes as close to violence as you can get. One of the few movies I had to struggle to watch. El Topo and Montana Sacre by Alejandro Jodorowski have some weird violence in them, but staged in a strange, unbelievable way. So much for obscure movies.
