Somchai Sakulsurarat, executive chairman of Modern Home City which is the operator of the market, said on Saturday that part of the eastern floodwall of the market was damaged by the water flow and the market is being inundated. “The runoff rapidly flowed into the market area and I had directed the market’s management to tell vendors and residents to move belongings and cars out to evacuation centres of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. “The people are advised to move out within three to four hours for safety reasons because it is not sure whether the attempted to plugged the damaged floodwall would succeedâ€, Mr Somchai said. Flashermac Posted October 29, 2011 Author Report Share Posted October 29, 2011 Inner Bangkok may escape flooding if no major barrier damage: Irrigation Department The Royal Irrigation Department announced Saturday that inner Bangkok could escape flooding if there is no more major flood barrier damage between now and November 6. The department explained that after November 6th, sea tide will not be a threat for flooding situation in the capital and the authorities will have only to deal with northern runoff and floodwaters around Bangkok. Bangkok Post, 1.40pm At 4 PM yesterday and again at 8 PM I drove down Suk Soi 50 and thru the Klong Toei port and saw only a small puddle of water near a bridge that often has water there.
