Its a cliche in movies and tv shows to say murder could only be commited by a doctor or butcher. Dr. Mengele and that Japanese unit that conducted the most horrific experiments were all doctors. Doctors helped design and monitor the interrogation at Guantanamo. Many 3rd world despots had doctors who torture. Being a doctor is more for social prestige than saving lives for many. gobbledonk Posted September 18, 2012 Author Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 I doubt that too many surgeons and GPs would want their work lumped in with the most aberrant examples of their broader 'calling', any more than politicians would accept that there is a Stalin lurking in every political party. Conservatives - sure - but the rest ? Those CIA psychologists live in nice, middle-class homes in states like Maryland and Conneticut, secure in the knowledge that what they are doing keeps their families safe from the terrorists.
