  1. And this latest guy didn't even make it over the ledge on the condo, just ended up on the balcony... RIP. http://bangkok.coconuts.co//2014/12/16/american-man-found-dead-thonglor-condo A 34-year-old U.S. man was found dead on the balcony of his room at the Millennium Residence condominium on Soi Sukhumvit 20 yesterday. The deceased was identified as Robert Aloysius, who worked for a U.S. non-governmental organization. He reportedly rented the room on the building’s 27th floor with his wife about a year ago, police said. Aloysius often held parties in his room with his friends, police said, and his wife reportedly returned to the United States a few weeks ago. Two piles of a “powdery white substance†were found on the counter in his room. Police will test the samples to determine whether they are narcotics. Meanwhile, they believe the deceased likely died from overdose or chronic health conditions, Khaosod and The Nation reported.
  2. Things are changing - when was the last time you had a girl squat with her feet on the toilet seat? Back in the day, not so uncommon... today, seems half of the girls I take hope stand up to piss!
  3. Ah, the other one is Giftza, from this: http://www.pattaya24seven.com/blog/pop-stars-dui-shame/ Anyway, I still like her attitude. Good on her.
  4. Well... it's virtually impossible to find a Chinese cop that speaks English, but would you argue your case in Chinese if you didn't speak it? I think speaking Thai poorly once you're at the stage where everyone has been taking to the station is not likely to be helpful, you'll just seem like you're arrogantly slaughtering the language and expecting to be let go because you're such a brilliant farang. Yes, if you CAN speak, do - but if you can't, don't, and you'll get Tourist Police or a translator - even if the translator's English is crap, no better than your Thai, at least you don't sound like an ass when it hits the ears of the deciding authority. Use your Thai initially, use it to show that you are polite and have some understanding, but then get someone who can speak a little English to help you out. But my Thai is poor - perhaps those with better understanding can give their perspective.
  5. Sometimes speaking a little Thai and being a pompous drunk does not really work in your favor... Don't try to speak Thai with the cops once you're past the very initial stage - and even then, use caution... Three girls, all night karaoke place, start at two finish at six, figure a lot - lot - of drinks at all-night karaoke prices... any estimates on the appropriate bill? I'm gonna give him a 10,000 penalty for showing up in those cuffs and collar - for what? Nobody gives a damn about 'sapesshuulll"... just be quiet and propose a payment to finish the thing. Four hours? YimSiam
  6. Can't believe that guy did not cross some line during all that time, to get himself a beat down... I guess taking a bunch of booze and drugs with your mother and your favorite Thai lady-work-at-night can be not so much fun... Wonder how that ended.
  7. If it hasn't been banned yet, it's probably not worth the fifty-one minutes of shoddy internet connection that I have presently... Any highlights?
  8. The punishment should be sending them straight on to China, not bringing them back to Thailand! God, if every time I fucked up, they sent me straight away to Thailand... One can't help but imagine that this kind of scene is reasonably common in China. Any Chinese speakers know whether the big dude is the problem, or reaching a solution? Quality group tourists... by the hundreds of thousands... Just keep 'em separate from me and my nightlife, and we'll be alright.
  9. The 'no-touching-women' rule is not a universal one within Buddhism - one could be very knowledgeable about Buddhism in other contexts, and not realize that Thailand has this as a major issue. The prohibition is particularly strong in Thailand, but that doesn't mean a tourist should know about it - like expecting visitors to India or parts of the Muslim world to know the sectarian divisions there and how the rules are different for certain Hindus than others, etc. (Though I still am creeped out by Pink Shirt guy, even if Phitsanulok is a somehow okay destination compared to Cambo, and agree that he needed that slap in a generally sense. Unless he's French, in which case the outfit is fairly reasonable, and I would forgive him for accidentally dressing like a pederast. If he's not French, there is no excuse.) In the hierarchy of crimes before Buddha, a monk striking a layperson out of anger has got to rank pretty high up there! The Venerable Farang-Striker has not been paying attention to the teachings... but at least now we all know the answer to the ageless Zen Koan: What is the Sound Of One Hand Clapping? YimSiam
  10. Country is coming apart at the seams, one might think... Anyone have the back story on this? YimSiam PS: Why do I get the feeling there is something not quite right with this farang... The pink shirt (ah, like the guy who claimed the Jon Benet murder!)... the awkwardly hemmed pants, the strange hairstyle, skin tone - was this train headed for Aranyaprathet? Might explain things, somehow.
  11. A little outdated, but attached shows Bangkok may not be so cheap versus the region, but it does pretty well on a world-wide comparison: http://www.priceoftravel.com/555/world-taxi-prices-what-a-3-kilometer-ride-costs-in-72-big-cities/ .90 – $1.58 Delhi, India $0.97 – $1.29 Mumbai, India $1.01 – $1.68 Cairo, Egypt $1.15 – $1.73 La Paz, Bolivia $1.16 – $1.85 Manila, Philippines $1.25 – $3.00 Panama City, Panama $1.27 – $1.73 Kuta, Bali, Indonesia $1.28 – $1.91 Fez, Morocco $1.29 – $2.14 Mexico City, Mexico $1.32 – $1.98 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia $1.43 – $1.91 Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam $1.53 – $3.06 Beijing, China $1.53 – $1.91 Hanoi, Vietnam $1.66 – $2.32 Bangkok, Thailand $1.69 – $3.38 Kathmandu, Nepal $1.84 – $2.76 Shanghai, China $1.91 – $3.19 Marrakech, Morocco $2.00 – $4.00 Quito, Ecuador $2.06 – $2.94 Sofia, Bulgaria $2.11 – $3.69 Montevideo, Uruguay $2.13 – $3.19 Lima, Peru $2.46 – $2.95 Buenos Aires, Argentina $2.72 – $3.27 Dubai, UAE $2.82 – $4.23 Amman, Jordan $2.84 – $4.27 St. Petersburg, Russia $2.94 – $5.51 Seoul, South Korea $3.23 – $6.45 Singapore, Singapore $3.35 – $5.16 Hong Kong, China $3.80 – $6.33 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil $3.84 – $6.52 Athens, Greece $4.09 – $6.04 Moscow, Russia $4.24 – $5.93 Santiago, Chile $4.39 – $8.77 Tel Aviv, Israel $4.64 – $6.22 Istanbul, Turkey $5.47 – $9.12 Krakow, Poland $5.33 – $7.99 Beirut, Lebanon $5.73 – $8.33 Vancouver, Canada $5.80 – $8.70 Lisbon, Portugal $5.80 – $9.42 Tallinn, Estonia $5.70 – $8.29 Budapest, Hungary $5.75 – $7.90 Cape Town, South Africa $5.95 – $8.33 Prague, Czech Republic $6.20 – $8.26 Taipei, Taiwan $6.52 – $10.14 Barcelona, Spain $6.56 – $9.84 Edinburgh, Scotland $7.00 – $12.00 New York City, USA $7.25 – $10.14 Madrid, Spain $7.50 – $10.00 Los Angeles, USA $7.95 – $13.26 Reykjavik, Iceland $8.41 – $14.49 Rome, Italy $8.70 – $14.49 Brussels, Belgium $8.70 – $14.49 Paris, France $9.38 – $12.50 Toronto, Canada $9.38 – $12.50 Montreal, Canada $9.47 – $12.63 Melbourne, Australia $9.60 – $12.00 Auckland, New Zealand $9.80 – $15.69 Zagreb, Croatia $10.14 – $14.49 Vienna, Austria $10.53 – $13.68 Sydney, Australia $11.22 – $14.12 Copenhagen, Denmark $11.48 – $14.75 London, England $11.59 – $15.94 Berlin, Germany $11.59 – $17.39 Munich, Germany $11.59 – $17.39 Dublin, Ireland $12.64 – $15.66 Tokyo, Japan $12.92 – $16.16 Stockholm, Sweden $13.04 – $17.39 Nice, France $14.06 – $20.29 Helsinki, Finland $14.49 – $14.49 Amsterdam, Netherlands $15.94 – $20.29 Monaco, Monaco $18.62 – $24.21 Oslo, Norway $20.22 – $26.97 Zurich, Switzerland
  12. While the endless posts on Facebook and so on are irritating, I have to have a certain respect for the pride and lack of self-consciousness that these girls show. Who knows, might be nice to feel so free that I could flood the internet with endless subtle variations on this handsome mug of mine.
  13. Come on boys, quiet down til after the conviction, then you can work something out... No point making nice people like ASSK uncomfortable at this point...
  14. Okay, things have gone from strange to stranger: a death-by-falling that was neither in Bangkok nor Pattaya... I didn't even know London gravity could get a man up and out of a window accidentally, thought that was a SEAsia plate tectonics thing only - and to fall on iron stakes? Horrible. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/dec/10/london-property-tycoon-scot-young-dies-falling-railings YimSiam
  15. The guy has a Lao wife? Good taste on his part. My admiration grows. YimSiam
  16. Primary aim of Thai system is not too educate but to propagandize, so long as something contributes to the elites retaining their control over the people, it's okay - is my personal, completely unsubstantiated view. Education outcomes can be conveniently sacrificed on the altar of other objects of veneration. The best education teaches a population how to think for itself - not the outcome the elites are looking for.
  17. I can't begrudge taxi drivers that one - Bangkok rates have seemed relatively low to me for years. Good taxis, clean, air con, generally use the meter, and always around - guys deserve a little more than they've been getting. Yes, you have to speak a little Thai to avoid complications, but if you do, they're pretty great.
  18. Happened to look at this just exactly after clicking off a Lao lady friend - too many unrelenting selfies. "You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
  19. Her name starts with 'p' sound, could it perhaps be 'P'Sah'? Could clarify. Or... Sao, like phusao in Lao - lady age quickly? I leave it to those who speak either language...
  20. While I count vouch for the 12 year old boy similarity, I'm certainly familiar with arriving back at the room to discover that when relieved of clothing (padded bra, denim cut-offs under her short skirt to give some heft to the ass...) your 'well sorted' 'real looker' is narrow-hipped skin and bones (although usually she has a pair of grand, virtually perfect tits). That may be 'like banging a 12 year old boy', I don't know - but what I do know is that it usually IS banging a 23 year old kathoey... Anyway - enjoying this thread, which I think of as the "crunchy ass cheeks" thread. Good work, Nasiadai. And fuck me if you didn't just agree with me, rather than engage in pointless debate about the issue... YimSiam
  21. Yeah, it's like they're endlessly preparing for that ultimate shot with their 'girlfriend' that a guy will eventually pick up for his profile pic on Thai360! Lunatics... like that's gonna happen...
  22. I happen to be American, but I'm not drunk because I"m American, I'm drunk because it just happens when I travel, nothing to do with my nationality. And as far as cutting the line? Nonsense! We are almost certainly more line-conscious than the majority of international travelers - Chinese? Arab? Indian? All will be massing, rather than in a line/queue. What lines we cut, is because it's Business class, or Trusted Traveller program... YimSiam
  23. "Migrants to stand trial for British tourist murders" - first thought that came to my was: How will they choose which migrants? Maybe they'll draw straws? ... I think if the Brit 'review' drew conclusions that contradict the evidence put forward at the trial (upon which the guys will most likely be convicted, no matter how absurd the evidence) I suspect it will out eventually, perhaps to the victims families and then the families mount a campaign to release the guys and find the real killers, and the King releases the guy's back to Myanmar without a finding of innocence, and the real killers walk free, and life goes on for everyone but the two victims...
  24. As the old saying goes, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to send Twitter posts that remove all doubt..." Pretty funny stuff, though, unless you had a relative on board. Or are on board yourself. YimSiam
