one of my favorite eateries Zaks Soi 11 being demolished made me look for alternatives and finally I have selected Zanzibar Soi 11 as the solution for the foreseeable future. They offer a Philipino live band which normally I hate like the pest in a restaurant but after 4 evenings I sort of started to enjoy them . Friday last week we were assigned a table under a romantic tree and I was about to assure lovely Pam from Lao of my unquestionable eternal love for ever til I noticed three Chinese arseholes occupying the neighbouring position . Smoking like idiots, drunk and noisy. While I was still considering to move I heard one of them sniffing back his snod with full enthusiasm and then spitting the result on the floor . My heart stopped . I turned round and yelled at them that the Zanzibar is not fucking China when a waitress raced over and suggested we move to a table elsewhere which we did .

I have yet to find anybody working in a Thai restaurant, hotel, massage or elsewhere showing even the most marginal sympathy for the citizens of this country . And there are more and more of them spreading their bad behaviour whereever they go. #VERY BAD .

To support the project I would hereby swear never to confuse any of Mr Nasiadai´s threads again . I do actually like them . I would even go as far as calling Nanaplaza being the best place worldwide .

I wish to contribute to this excellent thread as follows, putting cost of living in BKK into proper perspective:

Deep inside Soi 4 on your left you find the Central Thai Competence Center for Diseases of Unspecified Kind. ( CTCCDUK ). Commonly known as Naree Massage. Lovely Pam from Lao is working daytime and I have to do something after breakfast. Once I have made it to Naree Massage I fix a treatment time with one of the doctors on duty and move on to a restaurant next door, name unknown but neighbouring an establishment called Swan Inn. This restaurant charges about 500 Baht as far as I remember for 1 water, 2 Singha and pork sweet and sour . The latter even eatable.

2 Singha early in the day makes me feel somewhat dizzy and plus aforementioned treatment within the next two hours I forget all about where I am, who I am and what time it is. Absolutely great feeling gentlemen, I love this.

Alltogether we are finally talking about maybe 3000 Baht including meal, medical interaction and motorcycle back to hotel. I very much doubt, gentlemen, that a quality arrangement like this could easily been had anywhere else. Not to forget that Bumrungrad is round the corner should your heart stop working with joy.

On a sidenote I swear to brutally kill an unknown person from Australia who has selfishly taken away the absolute jewel of Naree Massage. Name G.... . I still have her Thai mobile number and regularly try to find out if heart broken but so far no reply.

Rooms at The Landmark are very nice and its proximity to the plaza makes it a good choice for anyone who wants to be close to the action. Very good buffets at The Landmark too, both breakfast and dinner. Obviously a room at The Landmark will run much more than you had been paying!

the Landmark used to be my favorite downtown residence til one day I had enough. I did never take any ladies there ( not true ) but could confirm that they are probably the most girlfriendly place all over Asia . No surcharge . They provide a great breakfast buffet and the outside terrace is a place which I still very much fancy visiting today. I spent a night there with a mushroom farmer from Nongkai I remember at a time when I was unsuccessfully looking for a new temporary love of my life. Targeting on sort of a quality place close to Nana the Landmark is the choice. The mushroom farmer I discovered at the Beergarden though , I dislike Nanaplaza.
