  1. OK, since we are slagging Americans...

The U.N. has a meeting the main speaker starts with "excuse me folks, today we will discuss the proliferation of luxury goods in a free market of ideas and the effect it has on the rest of the world..."

The Chinese guy says "what is a free market idea?"

The Cambodian says "what is a luxury good?"

The German says "what is excuse me?"

and the American says "what is the rest of the world? and what does it have to do with me?"

  2. 'if this actually happened, which it did not'

    lighten up......

as i said i treated it as a joke and in my eyes it lends itself to the Americans sense of superiority.

but if it keeps you happy i'll say sorry to you and all your fellow Americans.......

    would'nt want to upset anyone.......

    BTW.........

i didn't believe the joke about a talking duck in a pub was real either............

Apology accepted on behalf of all Americans. This was a joke, presented as 100% fact, more a comical event than a joke. Hence I felt a need to clarify it, as it made Americans look bad...er worse...er not sure that is possible...but I digress, Next time I will use smilies...and what do you mean the ducks don't talk? ever see Daffy Duck? or Donald Duck? see, here in America, our superior ducks can speak English.

  3. Sorry, my comments were aimed at Elef as well. Regarding your comments, you could only claim we Americans have a sense of superiority, if this actually happened, which it did not, thus using a farce/joke to poke fun at us is indeed wrong, and deserves an apology.

  4. The old joke from Paul Rodriquez was "...the last 5 presidents of Mexico all went to Harvard, that is where they learned to steal..." Got him banned in a lot of countries...but Harvard I think has gracuated more U.S. Presidents than any other University, so well, maybe something to it...though I will note, the last 3 came from Yale I believe...

  5. Well, I think this sends a good message to all, Kids stay in school, study politics, ally yourself with the "right" people, and someday you will be above the law also. It is what I aspire to be.

  6. I know how it went down, very well thought out. But I recall reading that some of the demolition crew were arrested, I believe some were Burmese? Not that that matters...not sure what ever happened to them. As for the victims of this, sad for sure...

  7. I could be wrong, but I don't think the occupants were ever given any due process, or the offer of refunds on their prepaid leases. As I understand it, the bulldozing was pretty much un expected...

  8. I can recall (just barely) a few memorable nights with MM, how we ran with the bulls in Pompalona, trained as matadors in Madrid, slung the bull to some fat Shelias we thought were good looking while drunk, cruising the wall of shame in BKK "i'll make that old toothless hag mine" he'd proclaim "any limp wrist can shag a stunner, but I like them ugly, a challange, to go where others fear, for I am a Spaniard!"...but most of all, I will miss the nights in Casanova. MM was never hung up on the macho trip so many Spaniards are. I can recall him walking in in his matador's costume, eyes a fire at what her preceived as beauty before him, and then offered to skewer the "ladies" with his "Picadillio of love" as he called it. I always declined to partake in the dancing and pagentry that ensued, "mas para Mi " he'd yell as he enjoyed life to the fullest. He was young drunk stupid and in love, always a true Spaniard...in the end, the bull got him where no Katoey ever had, but he died as he lived, in his cape with his pants down. Vaya Con dios mi amigo!-OH
