  1. "•GM plant — Ryan: blamed Obama for the closing of GM plant in his hometown of Janesville, Wis. Truth: One of the biggest whoppers of the night; the plant closed before Obama was even sworn into office. His position also contradicts the Republicans’ position of opposing President Obama’s auto rescue. •Stimulus — Ryan: “The stimulus was a case of political patronage, corporate welfare, and cronyism at their worst. You, the working men and women of this country, were cut out of the deal.†Truth: The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said the stimulus created 3.3 million jobs. Four out of five economists agree. Ryan himself wrote letters requesting stimulus money, then lied about it. •Medicare — Ryan: “Seven hundred and sixteen billion dollars, funneled out of Medicare by President Obama.†Truth: As we’ve pointed out many times, Obamacare doesn’t raid Medicare and Ryan’s plan would do a lot more to ruin Medicare. One of the biggest lies of the campaign. •Obamacare — Ryan: “You see, even with all the hidden taxes to pay for the health care takeover…†Truth: Politifact called the “government takeover†of healthcare meme their “lie of the year†in 2010." LINK You just gotta love this guy !
  2. It's quite an interesting read. Rebublican National Committee Platform: LINK And . . . these nice fellas want to do away with the Post Office too. Those overpaid union government empployees. Gone. Let minimum wage non-union dregs deliver the mail. By for profit private companies. The postage rates will increase so that the stockholders can get dividends on the stock that they own from these private mail delivery companies. That makes sense, of course. Minimum wage dregs will be much more accurate in delivering the mails. And the stockholders will get a good dividend. The best of both worlds for the delivery of the mails. Got to love the thought processes of those Republicans. Always looking out for the little guy. Always looking out for the "middle class".
  3. All is part of the Republican Platform. All is non-negotiable. Mostly devised by men and all about women. To them life begins at interation. That's it. Period. It makes no difference as to who are the interactors. Violent or "legitimate" rape. It makes no difference. 12 year old gal raped by father, brother, uncle - it makes no difference. And if there is a choice - the mother dies. Never mind if the mother has 5 other children to raise. She dies. No exceptions.
  4. "The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 44% of the vote. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. This is the president’s biggest lead since May. His 47% level of support matches his best since March. See daily tracking history." LINK
  5. "TAMPA — The Republican National Convention opens this week with President Obama and presumptive nominee Mitt Romney running evenly, with voters more focused on Obama’s handling of the nation’s flagging economy than on some issues dominating the political debate in recent weeks. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows Romney at 47 percent among registered voters and Obama at 46 percent — barely changed from the deadlocked contest in early July." LINK
  6. "SAN DIEGO — On a stage crowded with war heroes, Mitt Romney recently praised the sacrifice "of the great men and women of every generation who serve in our armed services." It is a sacrifice the Republican presidential candidate did not make. Though an early supporter of the Vietnam War, Romney avoided military service at the height of the fighting after high school by seeking and receiving four draft deferments, according to Selective Service records. They included college deferments and a 31-month stretch as a "minister of religion" in France, a classification for Mormon missionaries that the church at the time feared was being overused. The country was cutting troop levels by the time he became eligible for the draft, and his lottery number was not called. President Barack Obama, Romney's opponent in this year's campaign, did not serve in the military either. The Democrat, 50, was a child during the Vietnam conflict and did not enlist when he was older." LINK You just gotta love those armchair generals.
  7. Who cares if he has money hidden in the Cayman Islands or some secret Swiss Bank account. It don't make him a bad guy.
  8. Everything you do presently on your computer, phone, cell phone is now presently monitored by Homeland Security - a GW Bush initiative. ALL emails are saved by the government. All web searches are saved and have access by Homeland Security - a GW Bush initiative. Yes, those good Republicans are truly looking out for your personal welfare.
  9. "Obama still in lead in Pa. survey taken after GOP veep candidate was named. August 23, 2012|By Colby Itkowitz, Call Washington Bureau The first poll of Pennsylvania voters since Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan as his running mate found the new Republican ticket did nothing to improve Romney's chances in the state. Barack Obama boasts a nine-point lead over Romney in the state, 49 percent to 40 percent, according to a poll of likely voters released Thursday by The Morning Call and Muhlenberg College." LINK
  10. On the tele. 16 rounds fired at assailant. And 8 feet distance from NYC constables. Maybe it's time for a tad more target practice for the men in blue in NYC.
  11. As far as I am concern, Homeland Security looks like a National Police...... A police agency that doesn't have to operate like other police agencies. Papers please! Just don't go to Arizona. Just like any other. Unintended consequences. Walk or drive around without any big government issued ID. No ID - off to pokey for you. The law was intened for illegals. But the law applies to all. No ID when questioned by your kindly constable, then off to station for you to be photographed and finger printed. "Where is your ID sir?" "No ID?" Come down to the station. You are quilty until you can prove you are inocent. The Arizona law applies to all.
  12. "Florida •Electoral Votes: 29 •Most Recent Poll: Obama 49%, Romney 46% (CBS News/NY Times 8/21) •RCP Average: Obama 46.3%, Romney 46.3% •Average of Polls from Last Two Weeks: Obama 46.3%, Romney 46.3% •Nate Silver Probability Analysis: 56.4% chance of Romney win •Changes Since Last Update: Things have changed dramatically in Florida over the last week. While the most recent poll has Obama up by three, two other polls from Rasmussen and Purple Strategies have Romney with a one-to-two point lead. The RCP average is now tied, and Nate Silver switched his projection from a 54.7 percent chance of an Obama win to what is now a 56.4 percent chance of a Romney win the in the state." LINK
  13. "Canada is often denigrated by America for everything from their military to their 'evil' socialist health care system, but now Canadians can wave their wallets in the face of the U.S. According to a report in Toronto's Globe and Mail, the average Canadian household is more than $40,000 richer than the average American household. The net worth of the average Canadian household in 2011 was $363,202, compared to around $320,000 for Americans. For those who might blame currency exchange rates for the difference, the Canadian loonie has actually caught up to the U.S. dollar in recent years. Canadians are also more likely to be employed than Americans. The Canadian unemployment rate is 7.2 percent, and dropping, while the U.S. has a rate of 8.2 percent." LINK And all that socialist medicine up there!
  14. "NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- President Obama and Mitt Romney both say they are focused on improving the lives of middle-class Americans, but a new poll suggests that the president has a slight edge over his challenger with the key demographic group. Just more than half -- 52% -- of middle-class adults said the president's policies would benefit them should he win a second term. A lower number -- 42% -- of respondents said that Romney's policies would help the middle class." WINK
  15. "Wednesday marks the 16th anniversary of President Clinton's welfare overhaul. That law has become a major issue in this year's presidential campaign. Republican Mitt Romney keeps saying that President Obama has gutted the law, even though every major fact-checking organization says the attacks are false." LINK
  16. I wish I stated this myself. Good point Unit.
  17. There is still a few "settlements" out there in northern rural Arizona. Every once in awhile the authorities raid one of the Morman clan settlements. Multiple wives. "Elders" marrying young lasses. These "settlements" are of course, condemed by the regular Morman church elders. Utah was much larger in area before the territories became states. Northern Arizona has a large Morman population. The 2nd largest Morman tabernacle is in Mesa, Arizona. Is it the mast or staff that gets raised?
  18. "The middle class in America is being systematically wiped out, and most people don't even realize what is happening. Every single year, millions more Americans fall out of the middle class and become dependent on the government. The United States once had the largest and most vibrant middle class in the history of the world, but now the middle class is rapidly shrinking and government dependence is at an all-time high. So why is this happening? Well, America is becoming a poorer nation at the same time that wealth is becoming extremely concentrated at the very top." LINK
  19. "For example, Mr. Romney wants to keep all the Bush tax cuts, then cut taxes much further, particularly for the rich, but he says the plan won’t grow the deficit by a dime. He won’t say how he will accomplish this — there are no real numbers in his plan beyond a vague pledge to eliminate some loopholes." LINK Those darn newspapers just won't print the actual facts and numbers of Romney's tax plan!
  20. Why do you think only 50% pay income taxes? It started during the Carter administration. Little tax breaks for the ultra wealthy. More better tax breaks over time for the ultra wealthy. The rich get richer and the middle class shrinks. More and more of the middle class sinks into poverty. Wages shrink. More and more goes to the top. And Romney proposes to give MORE tax breaks to the ultra rich. Ya, that will solve the problems, right?
  21. "In a widely anticipated revised estimate produced after the Supreme Court ruling on the health care reform law, the Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday reported that the 2010 Affordable Care Act will cost the government $84 billion less than previously calculated for the period from 2012-2022." "The nonpartisan office also released an estimate of the bill to repeal the health care law (H.R. 6079) that the House passed July 11. The repeal “would cause a net increase in federal budget deficits of $109 billion . . ." LINK In regards to the Republicans drive to repeal the Health Care Act the "net increase" in plain English means MORE or the repeal will cost MORE !!! LINK
  22. "As Mitt Romney begins to pivot from the long Republican primary fight to a likely November duel with President Barack Obama, he is re-launching some of his most repeated -- and inaccurate -- attacks of the incumbent president." "So as we said then, and repeated several times since, the health care law reduces the amount of future spending growth in Medicare. But it doesn't cut Medicare. The rest of Romney’s statement implies that Obama is doing something no other president has done -- making cuts (which he isn’t). He (Romney) made the same point in a December 2011 debate. We rated that particular claim False." LINK
  23. I was a sceptic at first. Why pay for something that is free. Then it came free in my truck. Found some interesting all talk channels. Some mainstream, some right, some left, some real oddballs. All, though, entertaining. Liked it so much I got a used receiver and boombox off auction site for home use. With remote control. Subscription can seem expensive. But there are deals. I pay around US $16.00 every 6 months. Don't use credit card. Billed by mail and pay by check. XM Satellite Radio. LINK
  24. For the Lord's sake it may be time to get over academic titles. Handbook of Academic Titles "There are over 3,300 accredited colleges and universities in the United States. These institutions have conferred on their academic faculties and staff a bewildering array of titles and designations. The titles can be confusing and their significance is often misunderstood. Some titles imply that the holder has tenure, while others do not. Some suggest a concentration in research rather than teaching, while others convey that the incumbent is primarily engaged in activities outside of an academic institution. In addition, a menagerie of prefixes and modifiers are used to indicate rank and other status information. Adding to the complexity of the problem is the fact that the same title may have different meanings at different institutions. The purpose of this handbook is to provide a thorough glossary explaining the significance of most titles in use in the United States today." LINK
