I'm not sure there were immigration laws back in the 1700's in the colonies. HH

What Film (Movie) Have You Just Watched?
Hugh_Hoy replied to The_Munchmaster's topic in The board bar
This last week I spent about 6 hours watching the Millennium triology: The Lady With The Dragon Tatoo, et. al. Swedish film with English subtitles/English dubbed (take your pick). The first story was quite good; the 2nd two parts were so-so. Acting, photography, casting was very good. I've actually become quite interested in foreign films from Europe and Japan. Story, plot, characterization and production are often excellent, exceeding the usual drivel Hollywood produces (action requiring special effects, gore for shock purposes, and supernatural/cult crap). BTW, I agree that The Town was a good flick. HH -
Steve...I'm too lazy to look up all of the EO's, but this one is tooooooooo easy. After removing one's tin hat, it could easily be assumed that the detention facility is for wetback processing/holding pending deportation. :content: HH

I guess that can be considered an "opinion", rather than a fact. :content: HH P.S. Unless you are aware of laws relating to the sharing of intelligence with law enforcement which were in effect prior to 9-11, you might consider tempering any perceived criticism of the CIA regarding the attacks.

I agree with everything you say. Honest: well, to the extent that he believed what he was saying. (I don't think he thought he was actually telling fibs.) 555555555 "Rush" goes over the top for entertainment; Olbermann's "unhinged" attacks were clearly from the heart and what you would call mean-spirited, and vindictive; in fact, I've said here before that I would only watch him briefly in hopes that he had "the big one" while doing his show. :content: Olbermann is clearly an intelligent guy. But I think he's probably "too full of himself". I also think he's probably a bit mentally unbalanced. Egotistic is a characteristic of most celebrities, but Olbermann has been referred to by a number of sources as "volatile"...and I agree with that. He's an angry guy. This isn't the first time that Keith has had probs keeping a job. ESPN let him go before for his "over the top" lip. RIP, Keith. See ya on the Food Channel. HH

That's the law in CA, also. You used to have to produce a copy of an insurance card, but now the cops can check electronically via data base query. HH

Face it. Europe (at least initially) loved Obama, but "hates" the U.S. Obama promises to mend the wayward ways of the U.S. and before he even say's "sorry" to Al Queda, he's bestowed the "honor" of a Nobel Peace Prize. In fairness, rhetoric of "no stronger ally" is used frequently for various diplomatic purposes. But how the fuck can Obie say that about France? When the U.S. was allowed to use air bases in England to launch an attack agains Libya, what country made it's airspace off-limits to U.S. warplanes. It was the fucking frogs ! Strongest ally? Give me a fucking break. I suppose Obama will be nominating the leader of N Korea for the Nobel Peace Prize if anything is ever settled on that issue. Two years into office and his foreign policy has been a one-trick pony, mostly involving the withdraw of U.S. and coaliton occupational troops in Iran and Afghanistan. Nothing accomplished in the Palestine-Isreal problem; nothing of substance regarding N. Korea beligerence; nothing regarding "negotiations" with Iraq and it's nuclear interests. Nothing with China regarding "human rights" or currency evaluation or unfair trade. During his campaign he was often referred to as The One for his speeches about how playing nicey-nicey with rogue countries would be accomplished if he was elected. In these first two years, he hasn't got any of the heads of the nice countries to sit down and discuss "nicely" how these issues can be addressed in a more favorable way. I'm not saying another President could do any better, but he has been a complete failure in these areas; and I doubt if he will do any better in his last two(and, hopefully, final)years. The guy is in over his head both interms of foreign policies and domestic policies. Only Billy Carter could have done worse, with Jimmy coming in 3rd. HH

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he didn't go around bowing and immortalizing our "enemies" and, at the same time, placing staunch allies in the same kettle. Shows what a lame-ass "leader" he is. I hardly think criticising him for this is equivalent to a schoolyard taunting. (BTW, the Demoncraps have been doing the same to Bush and other GOP figures. But in the tradition of most liberals, "I'm okay, you're okay"...unless we liberals say otherwise. ) HH

I always wondered if you were a SFO over-sensitive wuss. Now I know. :content: HH

For the record, I didn't vote for our idiot-in-chief. I wonder what Hillary Clinton thought about that one. Maybe he was straying from his teleprompter and his leftist DNA seeped out? BTW, in response to Obama's call for more "civil" rehetoric, notice that I didn't call him "asshole-in chief" or "fuckstick-in-chief". HH

Most likely, in Germany's case, to keep folks from leaving. HH

Deal. I never take a bet I know I can't win. I am not a gambler. I am a good lawyer tho'. Nancy says that she prefers that you not bareback her. HH

Many a time here I have proposed land mines along the border. Much cheaper than a fence or hiring border patrol officers. And much more of a deterrent, I would think. A few warning signs posted about every 40 or 50 miles apart along the border just to give wannabe wets fair advance notice of what might await them. HH

Well, I can say this. Gold purchased a few years ago would have been an excellent hedge against the baht, barfines, and favor fees being quoted by sad-eyed go-go girls. HH

Budget cuts won't help as long as the Democraps are in control of the printing presses. The greatest part of the 14 trillion dollar debt has been incurred in just 2 years of having Obama in office. I wonder if Gutenburg is there with Nobel as being equally at fault for some of man's follies. (Merely continuing the tin-hat theories that have been discussed earlier. :content: ) HH

$1600? I'd love it. Absolutely love it ! But not holding my breath. Maybe 1400-1450? It's on a bit of a hold until Governments decide what they're gonna do about their financial situations. HH
-
Big drop since the first of the month. No fear. I'm still marginally ahead of last buy-in. IF it hits 1350, I might go in for maybe 10-15 more ounces. Won't be going to the LOS this year pretty much for sure. Too many things on my "to do" list here and maybe a trip over to Ireland worked in. HH

I got a deal for ya LK. We both take the bar exam in CA. I score higher than you, you have to stay with Pelosi for a week and fuck her brains out everynight. You score higher than me, I will do the honors. Deal? HH
-
LK...what is happening to you man? You're beginning to post like BKTraveler ! Since you didn't have the privelage/agony of attending law school, let me give you a very brief (and easy) template/guide in winning a legal argument (as you CLEARLY could use any help you can acquire.) Write this word: IRAC This stands for ISSUE, RULE, APPLICATION, and CONCLUSION. You state an issue, state the rule, apply the pertinent facts, and then state your conclusion. Simple, eh? Now I could conceivably follow your above-stated dribble if you could formulate your position within that format. HH

Ok...Sarah dumped you. Get over it ! (If you can't, please consider taking it to the relationships forum. :content: ) HH

So...he was "not guilty" by reason of ________? Are you sure that a decision on his guilt or innocence is dependent upon one's political tendencies? You must be admitting that conservatives believe in rule of law, whereas libtards do not. I guess you have admitted that you don't let facts get in the way of reaching the right conclusion. Actually, OJ was rightfully found responsible for "wrongful death" by a jury not so blinded by his celebrity and in a courtroom with a judge not so incompetent as Judge Ito. Ito let the trial reach a stage of farce I've never seen before or since (in any of many courtrooms I've sat). HH

How has Palin tried to organize the world in any way? She's barely stepped foot out of the country. In the meantime, you have polarizing people like Obama and Pelosi bent on organizing my country in ways I (and many others)find extremely objectionable. And Obama and Pelosi don't really give a rat's ass what the people want or think. Folks have called Bush, Cheney and Palin vile things. Frankly, I find Pelosi and Obama to be 10x worse. I've said before, while I wouldn't condone their assassination, I wouldn't loose a wink of sleep if they were on AF One if it crashed into the mid-Atlantic. Both are as much liars as some folks like to describe Bush. They are devious, callous, and about as close to bringing unification of our diverse population as is the man in the moon. For all of the crap Obama said at the memorial service, I kept thinking "what a fucking hypocrit". And yes, I heard every word uttered by every speaker...live. Now...just why do you think Palin would blow us all up? Nevermind. Your answer would probably be as sensical and your ascribing fucking targets on a map to Palin having some measure of responsibility for a fucking nutcase taking out at least 6 innocent people. OMG ! Have you seen ANY fucking connection between that map and the perp? I doubt it very much. Don't you think our liberal media would have had it in 124 point type on the front page of every liberal rag in the world? Seriously, CW and OH...you guys need to drop Cav a PM and ask to borrow his tin hat. I'd suggest that LK do the same, but I don't think Cav's hat is big enough unless it's the size of a wine vat. ( to LK) Jeez...talk about "schizos" BTW, CW, I have no friggin idea why the map was taken off her website. Ask her or her organzation. Maybe because the election was over 2 months ago and it was no-longer applicable? I generally like Palin. As Dave32 mentioned, sometimes "annoying". But fractionally as much as fucking Pelosi and much more fuckable. Palin is refreshing when compared to the lying, 2-faced politicians who waffle on every issue. She isn't gutless to say what she thinks. That part of her shows her naievete when it comes to the polticial arena. More annoying that Mrs. Clinton? Not hardly. Certainly not as phoney. HH

You expect the liberal media to print it? Give me a break, LK. As for "ethics", I don't think you want to go there. :content: HH

Pelosi would be a great motivator (as a target) I would imagine. HH
