gsoutien
I'll be coming to LOS end of April but am a bit concerned about SARS. Should I be that worried?
check_bin_krap
China, Hong Kong, VietNam and Canada is the places where they have cases in numbers worth reporting up to date. Oops, Singapore also. Look at WHO's web site and judge yourself: http://www.who.int The link directly to no. of cases and where (28th Feb): http://www.who.int/csr/sarscountry/2003_03_28/en/

whosyourdaddy
I truly beleive that the WHO has good overboard on this , at this point in time.. More people have died from falling down the stairs that from SARS. Thailand would never mention that they have SARS here and would not be able to inform the WHO, for fear of the affect on tourism. Look at the facts and make your own decision.. There are many other places you could holiday other than SEA

Fiery Jack
Here's a reassuring article from the UK Sunday Telegraph 30/3/03: SARS telegraph article Cheers, jack ::
Guest
It's a good article but the date written was the 24th so its a little stale. The bad news is the may have the incubation period all wrong. The doctor (Urbini?) who first spotted it in Hanoi died in Bangkok yesterday which kind of throws the "2-7 days" incubation out the window. Yeah he could have lingered a long time after he showed symptoms but still he'd have been sick for nearly a month. Most other epeople seemd to either die or get over it a lot faster. Still the little bastards only have a 1/30 chance of fatality so far so it's not exactly the Black Plague.
check_bin_krap
"The doctor (Urbini?) who first spotted it in Hanoi died in Bangkok yesterday which kind of throws the "2-7 days" incubation out the window. " ............................................................... What I read of this case was early after the outbreak. He was identified at once upon arrival in BKK from HaNoi as a SARS case. What you say about people either getting well or dying is not correct. Many people are still in hospital in HaNoi who caught it and went down sick in the early stage of the outbreak. Apparentally 1500 cases now reported. Some advice of not to travel to SE asia at the moment as well.
