Dual Use words

From the Royal Thai Institute dictionary:

ÊÃà (¹.) - áÃ觹éÓ¢¹Ò´ãË­è «Öè§à»ç¹àçËÃ×乢ش - a large pool of water, either natural or man-made.

A little miss in the translation, ¢èÒÇ (kao-h) should be 'news' not 'them' which is à¢Ò (actually could someone do the transcription for me I really have no idea- one of the downsides from learning Thai script straight away)

so the new meaning would be along the lines of "He came in to tell the news that there was white rice"

 

another dual word (slightly naughty)

¡ÃËÃÕè (ka-ree) 1. curry (as in Indian curry)

2. whore / slut

 

Which leads me to the joke of the day:

Three distinguished Khunyings walk into a seafood restaurant and take a table. They order the specialty of the house- Crab in curry sauce (Poo pad pong ka-ree). The 'boy' turns nonchalantly around and shouts over the crowded restaurant to the kitchen at the back "3 ka-ree. toh 4!" (3 curries/whores at table 4!)
