Canadian tax and pension issues

I have a friend who is a Canadian bar owner and he turns 60 next month.

He's having the pension form sent over but he's worried about what information they'll need from him and how complicated a process it is to claim the Canadian pension from over here.

Also he wants to claim residency for tax purposes, he says Canada has some deal with Thailand on tax.

Can anyone help me point him in the right direction?

Any help would be appreciated.

Dont think Canadian has any agreement on income tax. maybe on estate tax or other taex,, not sure.

The US most certainly does have a tax agreement. 2 years tax free.

He should be able to find all information at the embassy and revenue canada. The thais would want to see that he is over 50 and has a minimum bank balance of 800,000 in a thai bank in order to issue a one year non- immigrant visa.

Could you clarify your comment about 2 years tax free agreement with US. I am planning on retiring to LOS later this year and I thought I would pay tax on my pension in US and not in LOS but without any time limit?

Thanks for any info

Sorry if I am diverting this thread to US for a moment.
