Guest Posted May 25, 2003 Report Share Posted May 25, 2003 The car rental places don't care wheteher you have a license or not, except maybe the reputable ones like Avis or Budget, but the Thai police certainly do and they know what an International License is. I was stopped by a cop who didn't like my expired Thai license, wouldn't entertain my valid UK license but specifically asked for an International License which he was over the moon with even though it had already expired! If you're a tourist you are only allowed to drive leagally with an International License and if you have a non imm you really should get a Thai license.
