Rats Eat Qantas Jet!

A colony of rats grounded a Qantas jet and caused extensive damage.

The rats ate through wiring and damaged wall panels and carpet in the 737.

A flight attendant in Brisbane saw a rat in a cabin about four weeks ago.

The plane was grounded but the rat could not be found.

When the plane later reached Melbourne, pest exterminators were called in and discovered there was not just one rat but a colony of them.

They were destroyed.

So QF is it catch your own food or a new name for economy.

We all know cattle class so now what Rat Class?? :neener:

This is a frightening story. Just thinking about what damage the rats could have done to the wiring and highly essential electronic parts of the aircraft. :: :(

I believe that QF was just lucky that the aircraft did not crash. ::

Yes i agree.

And if so i do not think the reason would have been found?

certainly not via black etc.

Only a small story here buried in the back of the paper today.

maybe not for long and a big investigation i hope :dunno:

Scared shit out of me. How could that happen to QF?

My first job was with an airline, as an mechanic, a "baggage door specialist". Rats, monkeys, tigers, lions, rodents, zebras, rhinos,..anything a plane could carry...none of the lovely creatures had ever tasted the wiring or other parts.

BRI is is known as a low cost maintence ground, cheap real estate but everything else is world class...

Virgin Blue are based there, they have never reported any problems of that kind...

Did that 737 come from ex-lease from some less disciplined place? Would you know the tail rego of the plane? Might be able to look up where it came from.

Hi TTT

Not much more to add.

I heard about this via a QF rep that i talk with a couple of times a week.

Then i noticed a very small artical in the Telegraph in Sydney about 10 or fifteen lines.

And nothing since,no follow up story.

Hate to think Qf is slacking 0ff in maintance. :censored:

BTW

When Ansett was in the air ( a lot) of Ansett staff refered to Qantas as

THE FLYING RAT :doah:
