apartment without furniture advice

Recommended Posts

I found a highrise apartment I like for 25K/mo. It has your basic furniture all of which I will replace; couch, fridge, tv, etc. The owner has no problem removing the existing furniture, but did not talk about changing the price. Just wondering if it is reasonable to ask for a reduction and if so, how much. If not, I am still ok with it but just want to optimize the deal.

Also, if anyone can suggest where to find high quality furniture or appliances, that would be great to know. Have checked world trade & emporium--nice quality, but seems a little high for what you get.

Thanks for any advice.

Umm, in a word, YES.

Your rent should definitely be discounted. To bad you didn't get the lease first and then tell them you didn't need the furniture before signing. Many buildings up the excess charges besides rent I believe due to tax reasons. Furniture is one of these charges.

Anyways, the furniture charge at my place is 34% of my rent!!!!!!!!!!
