From their website: "Eraser is a secure data removal tool, which allows you to remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it with carefully selected patterns." After erasing the files, you might want to try the file recovery program PC Inspector to see if the files are really gone. Both programs are freeware. Cheers!
