BkkShaggy
Hi, We'd like to take our farang friends to a nice Thai restaurant close to Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Hotel, Silom. A cosy little place, sort of quiet with a Thai traditional music (live) is what we're looking for. A short walking distance is preferable but not a must. We hate to fight the traffic jam for dinner on a Saturday night. Any suggestions are welcome. If provided with detailed directions will be much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance. gene1944
I thought there was a nice restaurant at the Holiday Inn called 222 or something. Wine prices in the rest. were advertised as being sold at retail prices not inflated hotel prices. MIght be worth looking into if you want a no hassle dinner. Guest
No -- that 222 place is not at the Holiday Inn but next to the Narai Hotel. I don't know of any places walking distance from the Holiday Inn that have live music -- except for Silom Village across the street, which is a bit of a tourist trap (although the food isn't all that bad). I would go to Ban Chiang, which is behind the Holiday Inn on the small road that runs parallel to Silom before you get to Sathorn Road (going down Surasak Road). Very good Thai food in an old Thai house. No more than 5 mins' walk from the Holiday Inn.
samak
Ban Chiang is a good recommendation. another good one is Bussaracum on Pan road; a bit upmarket, excellent "royal" thai food and some musicians playing dontri borarn.
