TokBet
I know what the word means, but it seems that it is freely used by Bar girls and therefore seems insincere. How about in a regular relationship, that is, between a Thai woman (professional career woman, non-prostitute) and her real boyfriend (Thai or farang)? Is it normal for this endearment to be used? Is it used often? If several months in to a relationship a girlfriend starts using this term, is that a good thing and does it mean she's getting serious? Jasmine? khwaimaisabai
Hi tokbet, Based on my limited experience, I would say that you should not attach any significance to this word. Khwai

think_too_mut
>My wife uses this very often when talking to me, often instead of using my name. That could be it. You are talking in Thai. In our conversations, it's either TTM or "honey".

WhiteOrchid wrote: Hi I never call my bf "tirak" ..hmmm.. My friends never call their boyfriends that word also (they have thai bf), so probably thai woman uses to call their foreigner's bf.
