Torneyboy
Hi Red, The very best of OZ wines can go head to head with the best of any wine producing country . Not just IMHO i have seen this stated in many articles in papers etc.
Redbaron
For sure, this has been the case for years now. Even my french mate agrees to this, although he thinks they are a bit dear. (In the UK the Aussie drops are taxed at an extremely high rate compared with European Common Market wines). When I told him what we paid here for them, he started looking at airfares and Barosa tours!
Torneyboy
Ha Ha ...and so he should. The settings of many of our wineries are just stunning..not to mention the food. Don''t tell him the vines came from France btw :neener:

Torneyboy
Another great wine. A relatively little known australian wine has wowed an influential US critic who called it ""the greates red wine you''ve never heard of"" Ben Gilliberti wrote in the Washington Post. He recommended Virgin Hills 1998 and 99 Cab/Sav which retail in the US $30. Appears the US really love our wines.
Guest
Doesnt hurt that French wine is now a miserable seller in the US...also doent hurt that anyhting Aussie is patriotic....
