SEX SURVEY: Thais have more fun in bed

THE NATION

Sep 24, 2003

Thais are the world's most jovial lovers, according to a sex survey conducted by condom-maker Durex, but they are much more concerned with quality than quantity.

Over 92 per cent of Thai respondents said they were happy with their sex lives, higher than the global average of 73 per cent, the Durex Global Sex Survey 2003 found.

But the average frequency of sex among Thais dropped to 105 times a year, from 112 times last year, well below the global average of 127 times a year.

The Internet survey polled 2,631 Thai men and 1,224 Thai women and over 150,000 adult respondents from 49 countries, aged between 16 and 55.

Thai respondents also preferred their batch of sexy actors and politicians, according to another survey by the condom manufacturer.

Over 65 per cent went for Democrat deputy leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and Chat Thai MP Janista Liewchalermwong. Movie star Jessadaporn "Tik" Pholdee got 39 per cent.

Television star Patcharapa "Um" Chaiyacheau got 19 per cent, defeating last year's sexiest woman, Shermarn "Ploy" Bunyasak, who got 3 per cent.

Globally, men comprised almost two-thirds of the respondents.

Just below Thailand in the sexual frequency poll were Vietnam (104), Hong Kong (103), Sweden (102), Malaysia (100), and Singapore (96).

Lovers in Vietnam were just behind Thailand on the happy-sex list, with 90 per cent.

Fifty-four per cent of Thai, American and British respondents said they had one-night-stands, while the global average was 45 per cent.

The survey found that almost three-tenths of global respondents preferred partner-on-top and rear-entry as their favourite sexual positions. The least favoured position was standing up.

Went to the durex site, they also say Thais are some of the least sexually active.

First were, you guessed: The french! 167 times a year.

10 first were:

France 167, then way behind (... :cover:)

Netherland 158

Denmark 152

Canada 150 (Quebec helped for sure, :neener: to LHL)

UK 149

Germany 147

S. Africa 145

Australia 144

Norway 144

Poland 141

First asian country was malaysia (121). The survey indicated, 139 as global average, I think. They also concentrated on the youth of the countries population. WEll, check it out at:

I think it would be interesting to know who and what types of people they interviewed. I know these surveys like to say they do random sampling to get at the general population but most of the times methods are either flawed, biased or at the very least not a true representation of the general population but instead ends up being some specific group or groups of people unintentionally...

Anone know where and how they collected their data for Thailand? I did notice the age range and sex division in the article...

Sorry to burst your bubble but the figures on the Durex site are for last year, when France went flaccid in the World Cup. This year, for the first time, they lost the title of the most frequent sexual liasons. Beaten by Hungary, at 152, and then a handful of Eastern European countries, knocking the French to seventh at 144. Global average is 127, down 9.5% from last year. New Zealand is gloating as they, for the first time, beat both the average, at 130, and Australia (125). 60% of women in Oceania are faking orgasms, the highest. Australia also the gayest at 17%. I question all of these numbers and also wonder at the sampling. 75% of people worldwide satisfied with their sex life? 38% of Britian (with a respectable 135 compared to USA's 118) into bondage? Goodness, I don't know many of these people. And I know how I rate as it is entered as a red dot in my wife's diary, sometimes with a star, and I'm with the Thais and most other Asians in placing quality over quantity.

Says orandanodes:

He, we're a good second and you're not even on this list.

Got some work to do BB

Oran,

Well....... for one, I was not surveyed :)

Then again, if you believe those figures, you'll believe anything, for me it shows there are more liars and braggers in Holland than Belgium.........

Believe me when i say that personally I would prefer 'not' to appear on any list at all.

Cheers !
