Torneyboy
These two herbs have more to offer than just flavour. From an article in our Thai paper today. Coriander: This potent herb has been cultivated for more than 3000 years. Various cultures have endowed it with the power of immortality, and even as a love potion But its unusual ability to generate two distinctive flavours from the one plant (the mild orange flavour of the seeds and the pungent earthiness of the leaves) it is the roots which are highly prized in the Thai kitchen. Coriander is also recognized for its ability to stimulate the appetite. Basil: Available in a number of varieties around the world..but it is the aniseed flavours of the thai basil that truly astound the culinary world. Basil is also used to treat bronchitis, colds and fevers,or rubbed on the skin as an insect repellent. Basil has been shown to reduce blood sugar levels and even alleviate diabetes. So next time you''re eating tom yum or pat gaprao moo, consider sprinkling a few extra basil leaves.

Torneyboy
Hi. From Thaibiz paper yesterday. Maybe the writer Andrew Jacka deejay@csoms.com Should have said use more basil in dishes where basil is used? He also goes on about the benefits of garlic and chives. Chives as a mild antiseptic and garlic for colds and blood cleansing.
