Los Angeles to Bangkok (Cheap Please)

Thaifly was advertising fares as low as $565 LAX-BKK-LAX. ( http://www.thaifly.com ) This was for 'off season' travel.

Current pricing seems to be about $840 for travel Sept 2001-mid Dec. 2001. The price drops about $40 if you depart after 28 Dec. These fares are for American Airlines out of LAX, which is a code share with EVA.

True, you can find cheaper fares on China Air. But I'm presuming that you actually want to get to BKK and back again, without taking an unscheduled swim. (Personally, I'm still just not comfortable with China Air's safety record. Though I know a few guys who have had good flights with them.)

Best of Luck!

Using www.expedia.msn.com , you will find American code share on EVA for $720. during this period, or just call American direct.

I got American for a total of $920. from Florida.(USA) directly from American.

I hate posters who say they heard somewhere but can't remember.....But, back when I was commutting between the states and BKK I used to fly courier from SFO and LAX to BKK and the fare was $475. A lot of fine print:

1) You had to do either 7,10 or 11 day trips.

2) You had to post a deposit of $475

3) They held your ticket in BKK

4) Only carry on luggage as you were

escorting about 16 very big plastic

bags of high priority letters, electronic

parts, etc

5) You get no frequent flyer miles.

6) You occassinally had to lay over for the

night in Tokyo..They pay for the hotel.

7) You usually had to clear immigration and

customs in Tokyo to offload a couple of

your bags and then reclear customs and

immigration and get on the plane.

8) If you missed your return flight you were

screwed because they have your ticket

and your deposit and you have to buy a

new ticket.

9) You couldn't upgrade from economy to

business for money or miles.

None of this took any brains (hey, I did it didn't I?) and you never even saw your luggage...they handle everything for you.

The problem is that I can not remember the name of the company. It'll come to me later and I'll post it then. But I figure somebody out there will remember, take pity on me and post the name. I know they were near LAX, you could do everything by phone and they advertised in the LA Times frequently. Damn, I hate having an old brain, it'll come to me.

The only LAX, SFO based courier currently using JAL with the terms u mentioned is Jupiter.

JJSushi, Thanks but that's not it Jupiter is another courier similiar to the one I used. The one I used flew Northwest. I remember, though, that Jupiter had similiar pricing.

Hey nepfan

I used a courier flight out of LAX a few years ago. Think it was called Polo Express. There was another one too, at the time; can't remember the name.
