gobbledonk
Hi All, I know that many of you will be in BKK for the AGM and other frivolity, and I'm off to Jakarta, but I thought I'd check and see what the rest of you layabouts have planned. :: The impression I get of the Northern Hemisphere is that the freezing weather in December doesnt lend itself to a long break at Xmas time, but it is the traditional vacation period here in Oz. Suburban hordes, freed from the shackles of work and schooling, traditionally vacate the cities en masse, usually with a view to joining as many of their neighbours as possible at some overpriced coastal haven. Its probably much the same in your neck of the woods - it just happens in June instead of December. As Nana members, however, we usually have other priorities : visit new and interesting countries, explore interesting cultures and get thrown out of bars at 4am - all good stuff. First prize for most interesting Xmas plans is a night out with Fiery Jack. Second prize is two nights. As for the Lucky Door prize, you are better off not knowing

gobbledonk
Sorry to hear that, Sayjann - if its any consolation, thats what I would normally be doing over the Xmas break - travel is a much more pleasurable experience outside of the peak periods. My current employer gives everyone a two-week break in return for sacrificing various public holidays throughout the year, so I'm taking what I can get ::
sayjann
i must admit i normally work the Holiday period,it's never really bothered me. but because of my circumstances with my Filipino GF,things are different. i will be missing so many Filipino celebrations and Aileen will have to go alone and that's a shame. Fiery Jack
I shall be working on Christmas day. Work over, I will return to my cold apartment to watch soccer videos and internet porn :hubba: whilst drinking 12 tins of lager, eating a takeaway pizza and hoping that my silent phone will ring with joyful old friends bellowing hearty festive cheer from afar across the static. It will not. Come 2 or 3AM, after an unsteady Xmas "sleigh-ride" to the 24-hour off license for a cheery bottle of yuletide vodka, I may well find myself inside a freezing phone-box ringing my ex-wife and managing to tell her I still love her milli-seconds before she slams the receiver down at her end in a maelstrom of vitriolic oaths and curses. Nothing special, then. jack PS. artiew said:First prize for most interesting Xmas plans is a night out with Fiery Jack. Second prize is two nights... If I win, can I get a different prize? I can go out with that boring bastard any night I like.
gobbledonk
FJ, Good point - what to give you if *you* win ! How about a night out with : a. David Beckham b. Posh Beckham c. Benny Hill The latter has been dead for several years, was reportedly gay and probably didnt enjoy being constantly surrounded by near-naked women who would do *anything* to get on TV. Despite these drawbacks, I suspect that he would be a more interesting conversationalist than the other two.

gobbledonk
Hi Al, Sounds great ! I take it that you will be taking a brief sojourn from Pattaya's charms to attend some of the AGM festivities ? It sounds like it could be a challenge to the consititution of even the heartiest partier ! Enjoy your break - you'll be in Asia 4 days before me, sob ::
gobbledonk
Hi TB, Sounds like you have the best of ALL worlds happening : not sure that I'd want 28 people in a 3-bedroom apt, but thats extended Asian families for you ! Working through the (slow for most) Xmas period then jetting off when just as the bulk of the tourists are returning to the monotony of their daily grind is the way to do it, IMO. This time, I'll be one of the sad faces shuiffling through Customs shortly after New Years, but for the moment, I have just *2 weeks* until I can once again enjoy the delights of Asia. WOOHOOO !!!!!!
