Ok, living in the UK and only JUST having mastered the english language :cover: I would really like to speak at least rudimentary Thai.

Apart from living/visiting LOS. What has been the most effective way that people have learnt the lingo.

Are there any decent books/cd's/dvd's around that you guys can recommend ?

Cheers

p.s. Thai g/f refuses to teach me as she hates it when falangs speak it :(

I learnt thai for the same reason you mentioned in Australia!

The Thais, who want to charge me more than 300 Baht an hour, want me to teach then Englsih (Good luck to them as that s a foreign tounge to me!)

In Aus I got a very good Thai girl to teach me for 300 baht an hour, one on one lessons, 20 hours later I could have basic conversations.

SO - my suggestion, find some Thai student desperate for some pocket money near you and get them to help oput!
