Yes, the Embassy proper IS on the west side of the road, but I have never known a single person who said they were going down to the consular section. We always say we're going "to the Embassy" when going to the U.S. "complex" on Witthayu Road. It's like saying you're going to go get a Coke, when Pepsi or root beer is what you're really after.
