Damen
I've only stayed in the low rise section overlooking the pool. On both occassions, the rooms were twice the size of the HR and had much better ammenities. Teak furniture and hardwood trim throughout the room. The bathrooms were also very nice. The HR by comparison looked like a public housing development where they painted everything in the room white. There were cheap old tile and fixtures in the bath. This was in a room with an ocean/pool view! They do a nice job of distracting you with the use of neon bulbs and the large Elvis painting above the bed (who Elwis Prewswee?) but it is what it is; an old hotel in need of some modernization. torrenova
I'm actually surprised that now the Hark Rock hotel concept appears to be working, that they did not build a new hotel with improved facilities. Perhaps, as with the Marriott, Pattaya is not ready for full scale 5* hotels or prices.
Prosal
In September will open a new beachfront Novotel in North Pattaya (Naklua) and also a "modern urban design resort" Mercure hotel on Second Road, here from the Accor site .... Don't know if it's from existing buildings or constructions ....
