New Petchburi Pete
I need a referral for a lawyer who speaks Thai and English. I want to buy a piece of land (with my Thai wife) in Isaan that is currently used as a sugar plantation and has excellent views of nearby hills. I know I can own only 49%. But, I have been told that she can sign a lease, say for forty years to me. And if a divorce ever occurs, the land could be sold and the money divided. We hope to build a home there someday. But, I want to do it the right way, so that my interests are protected. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated. By the way, does anyone know the approximate cost of such services by a lawyer? Guest
New Petchburi Pete Have a look at this link, which has some good readings. Go to several lawyer firms and select one, in which you feel comfortable with. http://ethailand.com/LAW/law0a.html Even in lease, there are a number of options available and you will have too see which one fits the best in your situation. Note that lease agreements longer than 3 years required to be registered. Good luck
