Thomas Thompson's SERPENTINE is an excellent account of Sobhraj's life up to the time of his imprisonment. I read it right after my first trip through Asia 1979-80 so a number of the venues were places I'd been.

Lots of copies of this in paper on abebooks.com for a US dollar. Some of you may recall Thompson as the author of BLOOD & MONEY.

is quite an interesting fellow himself. Made a name for himself in London during the sixties with an underground paper (OZ). There was a big court case at the time. Nowadays he calls himself a Futurist and gives lectures on Futurism.
