Zorro
This is a common occurrence in Pattya and not anything new. These sort of raids have been going on for years in Pattaya. BTW I just arrived in Pattaya yesterday after a three month break and was surprised at the amount of new building going on and that includes bars. It seems there is a mini boom going on down here. Guest
I wonder why they found it worthy of leading the news at the top of the hour. Must have been a slow news day.

Or you all will. i said it weeks ago, Pattaya's crackdown is next on the list, for shure.
Guest
Best watch it. Apparently hinting at such gets you dumped on in here.
Guest
Hi Kahuna, You're not getting dumped on. >>>>The Bangkok raids started with a single bar, too.<<< Do you mean the crackdown on showing, and closing times? The recent raids did not start with 'one bar'. The recent crackdown started with directives to ALL bars in any particular district, as to the new active enforcement of existing laws. One raid, on one bar, does not a crackdown make. These have happened for decades, and always will, just like in any city in the West. An individual bar in Thailand can be raided for any number of reasons. Tea money was not paid, owner got a policemans daughter preggo, bar might be next to an apartment complex where people were complaining about late-night partying, police owned bar wanting to put competition out of business, etc. 100,s of reasons. There has always been constant raids on individual bars, in any city in Thailand. If nothing else, they must do, to show the public, and superiors, that they are doing something to maintaining the enforcement of existing laws. To start worrying that a simple raid on a single bar (which has always happened, all the time), is a little silly. It's a daily occurrence in Thailand, and should not be looked at, at anything more than that. A crackdown in Pattaya may happen, but I guarantee, the starting of such, will be a lot more obvious and dramatic, than the raiding of a single bar, for operating after hours. That's all anyone is saying here. HT
