dddave
Gold medal boxer Somluck has a piece of a huge, new, all you can eat Thai barbeque restaruant on Sukhumvit, opposite Soi 71, a five minute walk from the Phrah Khanong BTS (Hint, from the BTS, walk on the outbound side of Suk, then cross the footbridge to the other side, thus avoiding having to cross the Rama 4 intersection.) The place is enormous, under a shed roof with picnic table style seating and can easily accomodate large parties. A large stage fronts the table area and live music, sometimes with name performers, is provided. A charcoal cooker with a small grill in the center and hot water around the circumfrence is placed on the table; after ordering bevereges, you proceed to a large, central area where many varieties of raw meats, fish, vegatables, noodles and cooked rice await selection. You fill as many plates as you want, and refill as well as the meal progresses. Everything appears fresh and is of decent quality. Eating is leisurly, as only a small amount can be cooked at a time. If you have more than four people, request an extra cooker. A wide variety of deserts are also included, including ice cream. A clown wanders around, making balloon toys for kids, some of them quite imaginative. All this for B97 per person, not including drinks. Kids are free up to a certain age but I couldn't find out the cutoff point. All in all, this is a pretty fun place, especially for families and visiting relatives. It is still new and gets crowded, but waits have always been short and certainly worth it. I believe they aro open untill 11:00 pm. David
Guest
Sounds great Dave. I'll have to give it a try, especially if I'm living out that way again.
