Cosmetic dentistry - Update

I've had seveal crowns replaced and three fillings replaced with gold inlays. Each took around two hours, during which time I had to keep my mouth open most of the time. I can't imagine having to keep my mouth open for 7-8 hours. My dentist did charge an extra 100 B each time to use sterolized instruments. I wonder if anyone, to save money, uses the un-sterolized instruments?

It's not easy, after a few hours they used a device that held it open for me, it sounds worse than it was. As for the unsteralised instruments, I'll give that a miss. ::

My girl (dentist) read your story and her comment sounded something like:

oi...when was the last time he went to the dentist... 1955

:D :D

You sure had a lot to be done in there.

Well...as a dentist would say...good teeth make a beautiful smile.

She is on the right track, I've avoided dentists for a great many years following a traumatic experience in the chair, but most of the damage was caused by over brushing with an abrasive 'smokers' tooth powder during the time I was a heavy smoker. If any of you out there are using a similar product you should stop now to avoid damaging the enamel.

I have had a couple of root canals done here in New York City for about USD 1200 each, of which insurance paid about 2/3 if I remember correctly. Root canals are apparently very difficult. According to the endodontist success is greatly enhanced by the binocular microscope used which costs about USD 30,000. Did your endodontist in BKK have one? I had a six month followup with X-rays on mine. Did he recommend that to you?

It sounds like you got a great deal!

Hi,

They brought in their specialist from one of their other clinics to perform the root canal treatment. Apparantly I had 3 root canals in the molar that required removal before a crown could be fitted. I didn't see a microscope in use but the lady doctor did use the minature camera coupled to the plasma screen on occasions and multiple X-rays were taken with metal 'wires' inserted into the canals prior to the canals being filled with a ruberised filling (if I heard correctly). A temporary crown was then fitted while a ceramic crown was made. After the permanent crown was fitted I had a little discomfort when I bit on the tooth, but was advised this was to be expected and it would soon pass, which it did in a couple of days. I was advised to call in for a check up next time I was in BKK or if I had any problems. To date everythings been fine. Root canal treatment cost $200 aprox

full price list is on their website. Hope this helps

Hi

very interesting report. I am curious to know more about your veneers, was that done over 2 days? And of course how much, I looked @ their website/pricing but on veneers it is a little confusing. From what I have seen on tv, veneers sure can make a dramatic cosmetic change in ones smile

thanx

Now I've got the bug for this self improvement the question is what next?

Anybody out there had their eyes done? ::

Thanks for the report. My wife had her nose done here: http://www.yanhee.net/serv_plastic.htm

and when she did she told me that this is the best place in Bangkok for cosmetic surgery.

While we were there I also had a consultation. The doctor said that I didn't need face work, which surprised me since I was willing to have some tightening done, eyes, cheeks, etc and I do feel that my face is sagging a bit, but, I guess not enough for this doctor to feel that it warranted surgery. I still don't understand why he would discourage a potential customer. I'm not that handsome, am I???

Anyway, compared to England or the States not expensive at all. Good luck.

Hi Pepe,

I hope u don't mind me emailing u direclty. Im desperate!!! I had veneers done 7 years ago and now i am embrassed to smile or even talk - ive lost my confidence as my veneers are like piano keys: all flat and the colour is just dull!!! Anyway, have been to BKK to check out the dentist there, as i was advised that it's cheap, but am having problems deciding which dentist to go for as i really want to see their final result before i go ahead with them - it's like u want to see the house before you pay for it or get recommendation from some one who had the work done! Anyway, to cut this long story short, can u/ will u send me some pics of ur teeth? i hope im not asking too much! Also, do u remember the name of the dentist who did ur teeths.

MANY THANKS!!!!!!

By the way do u live in BKK?
