The Handbook for Hiring Thai Worker.

From ...Thailand Overseas Employment Administration (TOEA)

September 2003.

Some information in the book..

4. What the employer should know.

Thai workers respond magnificently to fair treatment.

If you give them what you have promised, you will be rewarded by high productivity and high quality of workmanship . You will generate a loyalty that will help you through difficult times that may occur and,as a result your business will grow and prosper.

On the other hand if you try to cheat your employees your business will suffer through poor workmanship, cost and time overruns due to labour disputes.

It mentions not to deal with illegal Thai brokers or illegal employment agencies.

Then it has a list of countries and what theyshould be paid.

Singapore

Unskilled 20 S$day includes food

Skilled 25 S$/day Includes food

Housemaid 380S$/month...food and accommodation

Malaysia

Unskilled 25RM$/day Includes food

Skilled 30RM/day Includes food

service 700-1350RM$/month Food and accommodation.

Other countries listed are

Lybia,Brunei,Saudi Arabia,United Arab Emirate, Oman,Qatar,Yemen.

This book was available in a tent shared by the Thai consulate at our Loy Krathong festival two weeks ago.

No mention of Australia...UK...USA ..New Zealand etc.

I don't know why they had this available ..except for some addresses in the back..i guess you could contact them via those.

I found the book interesting to read..however on returning to the tent later to ask some questions the books had all gone and could not get any information about the facts in the handbook.

Anyone else come accross this publication?

Thoughts?
