Of course "kittung" literally translates as "think about" but it really means "missing you" in an emotional sense. "Today I thought about my boss." (But I damned sure didn't miss him.) The Thais have certain speech to make people feel that they care, for example: "Have you eaten?", "Thought of you when I ate the chicken the other day." IMO, the Thai language is more caring (and at times "nosy")so people do speak accordingly. Mind you many people are sincere and many people say things just to be friendly.
