Why Would Thais do this to a Thai?

What about coming clean with the authorities and explaining her plight?I'm sure their not a bunch of heartless Nazi's.Sometimes honesty is the best policy.

You may have to keep her for awhile until her boat gets some tail wind and drop her previous employers in it whilst your at as I'm sure Oz applies a minimum wage policy the same as the UK.

Good luck.

Its not just Thai's.Greed for money brings out the worst in a lot of people.

Couldn't say it better. Honesty actually brings respect also and for me I can sleep at nights.

I only met her twice once at the shop and when she stayed overnight at our house.

True to say the owners underpaid her and overworked her..but she was happy..making more money than she could in BKK.

Now she is in trouble.

We talked to my wifes sister today (owns a migration office in Sydney)...told us to tell her to go back to Thailand!!!..better for her later, rather than have a stamp in her passport never to return of not for five years etc etc.

Staying with us tonight and maybe a week...thats it i said.

She wants to work here for a year to get some cash to pay off her debt....but if gets caught..thats it for her.

Being in the travel business i can give her a one way ticket to BKK...not much cost to me...but still a cost.

Then she can not pay her debts...and so we go around again and again.

A mess..she is in tears and scared.

TB, who knows what the hell the real deal is here?

Perhaps she was banging her sponsor's old man?

Maybe they ran an escort service out of the shop and she forgot to 'tip' her sponsors?

Did her brother in BKK bonk her sponsor's little cousin?

Or are they all milking TB's charity?

Sorry, but these are all distinct possibilities.

Try to hear the other side of the story. Why not approach the sponsor?

Sometimes, things are not as they seem, especially in Asia.

Hi...won't work.

DIMA over the last 12 months have come down hard on visa issues.

Only three weeks ago my wifes restaurant and every restaurant in the whole area was visited by immigration officials.

my wifes staff were all "legal"" except for her two home delivery guys...quick call and they went home for the day.

Took three van loads off to the detention centre.

A lot of restaurants were closed till they "found""and new chef.

They would just send her home for sure .

Still thinking what is the best option.

V31

She was also working after hours in peoples homes...nails ,color, cuts etc...made a lot that way..also living with Thais.

Can live on a good budget in Sydney..lots of Thai shops that sell cheaper to them.

Emigre populations have always preyed on their own, look at the chinese and the Italians.

Italians? The "exported" mafia (if that's what you are alluding to) was meant to work mostly on the "new country's" population, its activity wasn't restricted at all at the Italian communities...

Preying on one's own is commonplace in self-enclosed communities which don't tend/want to blend in the local culture. While Chinese communities are a good example of that, Italians (and any other "western immigrants") are, historically, not...

An Italian wouldn't, just for cultural reasons, go back over and over again to the same cheating bastards just because they are "ones of their own"......

Being the petty little bastard I am, I would wait to get dirt on the sponsor, then make hell for her. But that is just me... Any chance of sorting this out with Immigration and getting her a new sponsor?

I'll been raised to belive " that if someone does harm to you , you hit back, ten times harder."

Sit back and wait for something, revenge is best served cold.

Good luck,

Not me, and I find forgiving is much better in my experience and I have lived long enough to see those "people" who do things to others suffer.

Of course each to his/her own.

Hi

Thanks all for your input...the gal has done a runner!!

Should have come home for dinner tonight..no show.

My wife took a call from her to thank us for giving her a bed for a week and meals etc..thats it.

Another illegal in town ....we told her not to work in the CBD as her "friend" will find out fast and call DIMA.

Oh well..live and learn i guess.

Still don't understand how she got out of BKK with just a few days left on her visa?

I think i have been left out of the loop somehow...may never know the ""real" story...thanks Rop i think you may have been right..
