Chlp
Any suggestions for a reputable place in BKK to purchase a desktop computer? Also suggestions for going with a brand name vs off-brand? I am looking for an something inexpensive, no bells and whistles. I will need a USB2 and a network card for DSL access, and 256 or 512 MB RAM. In the US it's now a commodity, costs $400-500. How much will it cost in BKK? Thanks.

gene1944
I bought my desktop at Elite Systems on 4th floor of Panthip about 4 years ago. They are a family owned business (two brothers about 30-35 yrs old I think)and carry all the usual hardware/software that is offered by most Pantip shops. Had a hard disk problem while under warranty and they replaced it at no charge/no hassle. Had a minor problem with the power suppley and they changed it for about 250 or so baht. All problems have been diagnosed and fixed within an hour. Have also used them several times for upgrades and always happy with results. Would heartily recommend them to any friend who was looking at a computer purchase.
BelgianBoy
If you buy in BKK, do fill in all necessary papers for the 7 % VAT refund at the airport.... BB
