As a character in the film mon pleng luktung fm says to the hero, 'you'll never make it as a singer cos you have no ass or tit'. How many famous male singers can you think of? I doubt if it's more than half a dozen and probably only a couple of morlam stars, but most people interested in thai music can think of a list of totty singers. I saw a couple of great morlam singers recently that are 'famous but not so famous' they have been around for over ten years and have a stack of Cd's each but I only found out about them a couple of years ago.One is Ae Pojjana, a girl in happy pub in washington sq introduced me to his stuff and I saw him for the first time this year. The other one is Somjit Bothong who is not only a great singer like Ae but something of a dancer. I think he said he can dance in over 30 styles and he really is a joy to watch, he has a troupe of dancers numbering 100's and if you see the name he is well worth seeing. I can understand people not thinking much of male morlam singers if they have only heard pornsak or less so chalermpon, but these guys are far better IMO-peter Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For a start he's not thai, don't sing thai and worst of all is a 'friend of Rupert Murdoch' I can recommend the rough guide to the music of thailand RGNET 1095 if you want to hear some real elephant music, track 6. So the last chance is that Jack thinks elephant songs are morlam because of the elephant days in Surin, or? thai3 Posted May 6, 2005 Author Report Share Posted May 6, 2005 well don't bother ordering any from thaimegamart like I did 2 weeks ago, no CD's and no replies to emails. They had some of the re releases that I did not have. I've never had a dream about Jin but did last night about Sunaree, as far as beautiful for everything I like her the most. Jin never writes any message on a CD just a signature in varrying degrees of squiggle but sunaree takes ages to write something personal on them. Jin did give me a photo of her though with jin and peter written on as well as signed so can't complain too much. The last concert I went to of hers was in a wat-turned out to be a funeral, burned the body at 10 PM then on with the concert, great way to go I just counted my CD's and have 51 of Jin's inc tapes so she must have released about 60. Thaimegamart have been hopeless this time, no reply to 4 emails from different accounts and no answer when to GF rang them in Bkk.
