Falang Posted May 28, 2005 Report Share Posted May 28, 2005 I saw them doing this kind of charcoal in a villge aroud Chiang Mai, this is the real charcoal, they dig a hole and they pile the wood in the hole and put fire to it. After some time, they bury the fire and let the wood burn a few days. They dig the hole again and sell the charcoal. Now I know that they don't take any kind of wood they only choose one kind of tree to do that and was told that the best part for charcoal is the roots.
