stumpy
My friend has a spot on the head of his penis. It started about an eight of an inch and grew to a 1/4 of an inch in size. Red in colour. My friend has been to the doctor and tested negative for syph and herpes. The spot is not painful or itchy and shows no sign of bursting. Friend initially tried amoxycilin for a couple of days before being prescribed vibramycin by the doctor. Nearly two weeks on the initial spot has all but gone but a second one has appreared. Doctor also prescribed suggested betnovate c cream. Any thoughts would be appreciated. p.s. I believe all details of medications above are correct. Friend will read and let me know if I am off on any of the treatments. I will edit message if any corrections needed.
Guest
I believe a reddish color or rash is a sign of some allergy? Is your friend allergic to anything?
soongmak
Stump Dog, I hope "your friend" is doing allright, LOL! But seriously, a while back I saw a red spot on my penis as well, and thought it might be herpes or syphilys. Went to see a doctor, got tested for both, results came back negative. The doctor didn't have a clue what it was, so I went to see a specialized dermatologist. Turned out it was a recurring wart, one that I didn't recognize. Moral of the story: Get another doctor, someone who is specialized in VD's. I am sorry but don't have any referrals in LOS. BTW, check out this links. Has lots and lots of info on std's: http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/dstd/1998_STD_Guidlines/1998_guidelines_for_the_treatment.htm Cheers and good luck, Soongmak

Its been a while since I was a "clap cop" but I would suggest to your friend that he get retested in another month or so. It is possible that the medications he took could have covered up or delayed his blood test converting to positive for syphilis. Any time there is a painless red spot on ones little head it should be cause for concern as well as follow up (syphilis is never painful). Others have suggested getting to a VD specialist, good idea as well as checking out the CDC web site.
stumpy
Ooh you doubting Thomases My friend wishes me to add also the following: 'you could add that I am 70 years old, in excellent health and no sign of UTI; had regular unprotected sex with a girl who has a Thai boyfriend.' Thanks for the replies. [ October 23, 2001: Message edited by: stump_dog ]
