Feeling off colour..

For the third day I feel a little under the weather, I feel sickly but haven't been sick. I have mild stomach ache but no diohrea.

I was a tiny bit feverish, feeling cold and aching muscles so I took buscopan for the stomach and paracetemol but everytime they wear off the symptoms come back.

My friend says sounds like I have eaten something bad and although no sickness or diohrea (sp?) I should take some cipro?

Any thoughts or advice appreciated. I am only eating and drinking in moderation and getting a reasonable amount of sleep etc.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may have Dengue fever or something similar.

The old name for it was breakbone fever as it makes your joints and muscles sore. Your symptoms sound like it, especially the fever and pain. 10 days I'm afraid, if it is. Don't take cipro, this will not help, just let it run it's course. Paracet. is fine but alternate it with aspirin after 3/4 days.

Happy Christmas

Stumpdog, hate to point out the obvious, but have you been to a doctor? My other question would be, where are you? If you're in Thailand and sweating a lot, it could be salt deprivation. I had similar symptoms to yours when I was in SEA last October and that's what it turned out to be. A couple of days of oral salt rehydration worked wonders, but seriously check with a doctor first.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice, I'm not seriously ill and would not visit the doctor back home, I'm just a little of colour, paracetemol seems to bring me okay again.

I am in Pattaya right now and I'm able to get out etc, maybe I just picked up a small bug somewhere and my body is fighting it off.

I have only mild aches and pains and a little shivery etc...

Sure I will be better in another day or two.

Regards,

Stump Dog, this is the time of the year in Thailand for bugs etc, so it is likely that you have picked up something that is alien to what you are normally exposed to (I assume you are on holiday)

Going to see a doctor is good advice. I dont know where you are from but the visit is likely to be cheaper than at back home, with less waiting. You will get some medicine, that is how they make money, but my experience is that it is not wasted. Coming from the UK I can tell you the "point of entry" healthcare here in Thailand is better than a visit to your GP.

Hope you feel better soon, dont want you to waste any more drinking and shagging time!

Pasathai,

You may be right, I may be in danger of overdoing things a little. I have had some steady nights out and some BIG nights out.

I now also have a whacking sore throat and my legs feel weak.

I might confine myself to my room for a day and take it easy...

stump_dog:

Easier said than done is to stay in for the nite, rest up, and recover.

( tough advice to follow though, I am convincved there are little voices comming out of the walls in thailand saying

"go out, party, snauk, snauk...)

or maybe the smell of "nookie" in the air that makes us nuts.

kind of like being in las vegas, no matter how far from the casino you are, you still can hear the slot machines making their luring sounds.
