Another F*cking iPod Query: This Time, Speakers.

Clueless of Stoke again, here, folks :clown: with another facile irksome question about iPods... :drunk:

I wasn't that fussy about getting speakers for my iPod, particularly after I'd keeled over backwards at the prices of the bastards :o on the official Apple site. 10,000 sheets (in baht) seems to be about the starting odds: f*ck that.

But, at the weekend here in humid Nippon, I got a leaflet in my mailbox from our local spit and sawdust electric shop advertising these Princeton PS toys ? honest, it's not a porn link, lads on sale at 8,500 yen (about 3000 baht?). (They are hot to trot for mini iPod and bog-standard iPod too. :applause: Will they work with a laptop as well, I wonder? Seems so, as the USB is 2.0/1.1, or so it says.)

Are they any good (or crap bootlegs for idiots like me too stingy to shell out for the official Mac jobs)? By good, I mean a) do they work, B) will they not fall apart after 2 weeks and c) what kind of volume will they put out? I'm not one of these finnicky cats who's bothered about crystal clear sound and whatnot, just something portable that'll mean I can have Mr George Formby  there with me loud and supportive while I'm shagging tuppeny hookers up the gunbox in a Bangkok hotel room next month instead of trying to roger them with earphone wires trailing out of my blackpools. :nono:

Anyone had any "iPod speaker" experiences? You cats seem to have money coming out of your ears for booze and shagging hookers and whatnot, so someone must have some iPod speakers.

Cheers for advice in advance, fellers.

What looks large from a distance, close up ain't never that big.

Mr Hunt,

Thanks for your wise and timely advice, which I read with interest. Based largely upon your informative and pertinent comments, I have decided to order the aforementioned speakers after all. When they have arrived safely from the manufacturer and I have tried them out ? hopefully whilst shagging a tart ? I will post a review of their performance here.

Many thanks again for your prompt support and sound advice. I have often declared in the past that this board is populated by kind, considerate, mature "good samaritans", and not the dissipated workshy louts and haywire whizzed-up arseholes that pissed-up sex tourists are all too often unfairly portrayed as in the gutter media. You have, sir, once again, made me proud to be a part of this great community.

Cheers,

I haven't any experience with the particular speakers you referenced in the link. With my hearing response, you would do poorly to go by my recommendation anyway (To me, GSM is nearly Hi-Fi).

Your iPod can drive any powered speakers. Whether they are style and color coordinated with your iPod is a matter of personal taste. If the speakers sound good enough to you on a demonstration system, the they should sound just as good on your iPod.

On my iPod, I use a really junky computer speaker system I picked up at Pantip for 240 baht a few years back. To me, it sounds as good as or better than when using the Apple earbuds in an Airbus at 30,000 feet (my reference point).

A firend of mine has the Altec Lansing InMotion speakers for his Ipod. They can be connected to a laptop via the mini-jack input and will charge your Ipod, so you dont need to bring along a charger.

They also look good but are a bit pricey. I've seen them on sale in the US for $100.00
