asiafun
Any recommendations for Jet Ski vendors lately as it has been quite some time since my last go. I had heard they had a problem with guys being overcharge or charged for fictitious damage.
sayjann
i never understand this talk of overcharging. come on,Thailand is a Country of bargaining and just go for it and see if you can get WHAT YOU think is a good price. if you think you are being overcharged then surely walk away??????????? maybe it's just me that can do that.......... shygye
... but you need a frame of reference to know if you are being overcharged.
johnnyk
Start your thought process with what you think its worth. Then try it on the jet ski guy. Go from there.
Guest
<charged for fictitious damage> You mean like getting the seat wet?
asiafun
Exactly...a frame of reference. The thai price preferred as a starting point and then I can negotiate. I believe it was something like 1000 baht a half hour several years ago but....
asiafun
Not quite that bad but being charge for scratches that might have already existed or it stops running in the middle of the bay and they accuse the rider of "over doing it" and charge for engine repairs from the preexisting issue. FAT_AUSSIE
one of the guys doing Jet Ski rents in JonTiem comes from our province, Udit. He gave me and the missus discount... still the thing was gutless- even my wife got bored of it. Bullshit damage-Just for the fun of it I would give a bogus address and tell them to come and collect thier money in a days time.
sayjann
Johnnyk is right,go with the flow. give the Guy a price you are willing to pay and if too high then walk away. you know you will get the "Mister,Mister you come back and we talk" it's up to you to decide what you think is a good price. why not just watch for Falangs returning the Jet-ski's and ask them?,then you know what they paid. you then have the upper hand as you know what others have paid. the same with Girls, you know the amount you will pay for their time. if it is out of your budget then you walk away...........simple. BKKNUT
Asiafan I won't pay more than 800baht for a half hour. They may try to get you because of higher fuel prices. This should give you a guideline to start with.
