chilli13
"Then as Adams167 says, try and work out local signs, I used to test myself by looking at the bottom of car number plates whilst sat in BKK traffic jams and try to work out which province they are from" Too easy right - either its bkk(very long sting) or upcountry

samak
long for Bangkok and short for upcountry?? no it is not so easy! that's what is on the Bangkok licenseplate: ¡ÃØ§à ·¾ÃËÒ¹¤Ã (krungthepmahanakorn) but not all other provinces are short: ¾Ãù¤ÃÈÃÕÃÂظÂÒ (phranakornsriayuthaya = ayuthaya) ¹¤ÃÈÃÕ¸ÃÃÃÃÒª (nakorn sithamarat) »ÃèǺ¤ÕÃբѹ¸ì (prachuabkhirikan) ÊÃØ·Ãʧ¤ÃÒà (samut songkram) ÃغÅÃÒª¸Ò¹Õ (ubon rachathani) and there are some similar long ones; but the shortest are µÃѧ (trang) µÒ¡ (tak) ¹èÒ¹ (nan) à Å (loei)
